The Sea Can Wait

The Sea Can Wait

A Poem by Marina Alexandrova

The world already knows that you are mine.
Time and time again you've come and gone.
Time and space have no great role to play
My tears are now as routine as the tide.

Your soul's weight is in mine like a rock.
To seperate the two is to take air from water.
Like twining currents that noone else can see,
I carry a piece of you daily in myself.

Sharp like salt air you pierce my throat
Burning, but beautiful in pain.
To me you are the universe wrapped inside out.
You are the center point, the peak, the core.

So I wait, and look across the massive blue
That some people foolishly call life.
Because my soul is placed inside yours too
Be it a rock, a pebble or a grain of sand,
I do not know.
Only time will tell, but that is fine.
The sea can wait a thousand years till you are mine.
