Chapter 11A Chapter by MAMattersMedium: The Origins finds a young man setting out to avenge the death of a beloved family member and to recover forgotten memories, only to find himself with a new case and a unknown assailant on him.Chapter 11
I could
only see a blur when trying to open my eyes. A few seconds later, the blurs
start to clear up. The room is dark, with enough light coming from the night
sky through the window. I was on something that feels like a bed, with a
bandage strapped on to my elbow. I get up to turn around. I was right, I was on
a bed with some sort of bandage strapped on my elbow. It turns out to have a
needle inside my veins with the wire being connected to some water bag on a
stand. Wait, could it be? I look down to find my clothes have changed into a
blue robe, only a blue robe. It makes sense, I’m in recovery. I hear
the sound of the door opening. I turn around to find a doctor coming inside. “Chester
Raxton, how are you feeling?” “I’m alright.” “I’m glad to hear that. I
try to find ways to contact your parents but you don’t seem to have a cell
phone. Why don’t you make a phone call and have someone come over to pick you
up.” I take the phone from the doctor’s hand. I press a couple of buttons, and
wait for the receiver. I’m wasting the doctor’s time though. I don’t have
anyone to reach. “I can’t seem to reach
them.” I give the phone back to him. “Do you know someone else
that you could reach?” “I don’t know much
people. I don’t seem to feel all that bad, is it alright if I walk home?” “Well, so far your burns
are quite minor, didn’t make much contact with the fire. We’ve assessed and
eased the burns so you should take a little rest and then you’ll be free to go.” “Yes, alright.” “Now I normally would get
back to work, but I have to ask, what were you doing at that house? You do know
it’s cursed.” “I entered inside the
house once to see what it was like, and I took something a part of the house
with me. The curse started acting up, and it all started when I brought the item
with me. I tried to go and put it back where it was, but the ghost reacted
faster when it sensed I was here.” You didn’t think I was going to tell the
doctor everything, did you? “Do you even know the
history of that house?” “It’s about this Marlene
girl, right?” “Marlene woman, not girl,
she’s a grown woman.” “Yeah, well her husband
was working on an invention, but it wasn’t working well, and his first test was
on his wife. The ambulance were called in but by the time they arrived, she
already died.” “I see.” The doctor seems
to know more than let on. I’ll have to ask. “But there is one thing I
don’t get. She was pregnant, what happened to her child?” “Good question, some
adults were never there when it happened.” “And you know what really
happened?” “Well, not really, but
Marlene was brought here as a patient. We were there on time and we managed to
reduce the amount of electricity flowing in her blood. She was alive and well,
she only had to wait a few weeks to recover from her pain. However, Marlene was
pregnant at the time, and due to the accident, her child was born prematurely.
The child inherited flowing electrons in its body.” “its?” “No one knew if it was a
boy or a girl at the time. Anyways, there wasn’t any time to block all the
electrons flowing through his or her body as diseases like this spread faster
in babies, so doctors injected an electrical resistance compound into
unaffected areas. We needed to know if it worked or not, so we set an
appointment up with Marlene to come back and checkup on her child.
Unfortunately, Marlene died one day after her recovery, and the whole family
died during that week. We weren’t sure that if there is a little electricity
flowing inside Marlene’s body. If there was, than that’s what would’ve killed
her. Reports says. However, our treatment should’ve worked and she should’ve
been fine.” “What about her husband,
her child?” “She must’ve killed them
when she came back as a ghost. At least that’s what people are saying. There
wasn’t any clear explanation, all we know is that no one in the family attacked
each other, the officers investigated the house further, but they were killed
on the same day. Event after event builds up with that house and that is why no
one ever dared going inside. It’s been years and people are still afraid. It
was nice talking to you Chester, but I’m afraid I’m wasting my time. But our
talk has let some time pass for you to recover, so you are free to go.” “Yeah, thanks, there was
a girl that was with me during the fire. I want to see her, which room is she
in?” “There wasn’t enough room
in this hospital to bring her in. We had to contact another hospital close by
to take her in.” “Do you know which
hospital is that?” “Check with our front desk.
The secretaries there are the ones that dealt with the matter.” “Alright, thanks, I’ll
gonna go now.” “Be safe when you get
home Chester.” I walk down to the front
desk, where a couple of secretaries are working behind computers. One of them
looks at me. “Did the doctor say you
can go?” “Yes, the doctor said my
condition is only minor so I’m fully recovered.” “Yeah, riiight. Well, I
guess that’s good to hear.” The secretary act as though I was lying. “Look, I was with a
friend when I had the burns. A girl. The nurses took her in but had to transfer
her to another hospital because there wasn’t any room.” “You mean Ashley Andrews?” “Yes, that’s her. I want
to see her, see how she’s doing, do you know which hospital she is at?” The secretary pressed a
couple of buttons. “Ashley was transported to Milner Hospital.” Milner Hospital huh? “Is
it still open?” “Kid, it’s a hospital,
it’s open twenty-four seven. Though I think your girlfriend might be sleeping.” Was this person trying to
be funny? “Yeah, thanks, I’ll be on my way now.” “Yeah…don’t bother coming
back.” I heard that. © 2015 MAMattersAuthor's Note
