Chapter 10A Chapter by MAMattersMedium: The Origins finds a young man setting out to avenge the death of a beloved family member and to recover forgotten memories, only to find himself with a new case and a unknown assailant on him. Ashley’s eyes are set on the front door in front of
her. Standing with fear, she is back inside the house her friends tricked her
into going and scarred her. “Come on Ashley, you can do this. You don’t have to
stay here for long, just grab your bag and get out of here.” She
slowly reach in for the door knob, while stuttering her hands. She twist and
opens the door. She slide her head in to see through the shadow. The light from
the hallway is enough to shine the shadow inside the room to unveil her bag.
“Okay, just grab the bag and get out of here.” She walks in slowly. Despite the
bag being close to her, she can’t help but look around the area while closing
her eyes trying to shut her sights out. As she was grabbing her bag, she hears
a rough snarl. She has no idea where it is coming from. She use her flash light
app but her phone runs out of batteries and shuts off. She lights up a lighter
and clears the shadows to see what is lurking within the shadows. She slowly
backs away as she holds up the lighter to her sights. Veined eyes shows itself
to Ashley, and her fear begins to grow. Her hand is shaking uncontrollably. She
drops the lit up lighter to make her way out of the house and fast. She tries
to open the door, but even when it’s unlocked, it still won’t budge. Veined
eyes emerges from the closet, and Ashley was brought down on the floor by her
own fright. She backs away as means to stay alive, but her hopes were lessening
when looking at the eyes of Marlene. As if this isn’t worse enough, the fire
from the lighter starts to spread onto other areas and grow into ginormous
flammable flames. She begins to feel the heat of the fire, and the fear of
Marlene. She can already feel death approaching her fast. She tries to get her
mind to think of something else to die peacefully at least, but her mind is
plagued with many images of her death in bloody fashions. All she can do is
cover her face within her legs so she doesn’t have to see the terrible sight. Oof, I
barge in and bump Marlene out of the way just in time. What the hell, there’s a
girl here. She showed her face to me. Ashley, is that you? “Who
are you, what are you doing here?” She ask. “I
could ask you the same thing, come on, we got to get out of here.” I pick her
up and drag both of us out of here. As we are making our move, Marlene comes
out of nowhere behind us and start tailing us. “Can
you please move faster she’s gonna get us.” Ashley pleads. “Wait,
can’t you move?” “I
injured one of my legs.” “Then
hold on to me and hop on one foot. It should help us move faster.” “I’ll
try.” She
hops on one foot at the same time holding on to me. As every second passes by,
our speed increases by a little but enough to run away from the ghost. We are
close to the back exit, and as we make our way through, an explosion bursts and
separates us apart. I land on the floor that contains the burning heat. I try
to get up, and notice Marlene floating above me. At first, fear burst inside of
me, but I decide to shove it out and face it. I get to face her, only to find
out she was gone. While I can’t see her, I need to get those files and get out
of this house as quickly as possible. I run up the walls to the second floor. I
make my way through the burning branches that drops inside the house and jump
through every broken gap. I grab the files from the drawers and make my way out
of the window. As I get out I don’t look, I don’t stand, and I don’t run. Not
now. I lay down to catch my breath. I turn back and I see Ashley lying on the
same grass as I am. Both of us are safe. Our ears catch the sound of the
sirens. © 2015 MAMattersAuthor's Note
