Chapter 7A Chapter by MAMattersMedium: The Origins finds a young man setting out to avenge the death of a beloved family member and to recover forgotten memories, only to find himself with a new case and a unknown assailant on him.Chapter 7
Sitting
at a desk in an almost empty library, I insert an SD card into a slot on my
laptop. I look around only to find people’s faces trapped at the sight of the
books they’re reading. I bring out some headphones to restrict the sound only
to my ears. The video opens up with people walking around some sort of forest.
The video shows Kyle, Teresa, Ashley, and some other guy. What was Ashley doing
with them, didn’t that blonde girl picked on her? “Well,
we’re almost there, it’s about time we see what it’s all about.” Said the guy. “What are you talking
about?” Ashley asked meekly. “I can’t believe you’re
that crazy enough to even go there Marcus.” Myra commented. “Hey, if I’m crazy for
doing that, then you guys must be crazy for following me here.” “Hey, it’s not like we
believe in it or anything, we were just curious, that’s all.” Ashley said. She
then turned towards Ashley’s direction. “Do
you believe in it?” “Umm…I ah…I don’t know
what you’re talking about?” “Don’t push her Teresa,
she’ll decide on her own.” Kyle said. “Yeah, you’re right; the
best surprises shouldn’t be spoiled. It should be saved for last.” “Can anyone at least tell
me where we’re going?” Ashley asked. “Like they said Ashley,
we don’t spoil any surprises. You’ve only been with us one day, someday you’ll
get used to what we do with the group.” Marcus replied. Teresa, Kyle, and Myra
started giggling at each other. “What’s so funny?” Ashley
wondered. The three looked at each other before giving a response. “Oh, nothing.” Kyle said.
Ashley didn’t want to say anything, but she was still suspicious. Her camera recorded
something. From afar, the tree branches blocked something, but I know it’s
there. I think that’s where these guys were going. The closer they got, the
more clearly their destination was shown. It was an old scary looking house. It
looks like it was abandoned, what were they doing there? “We’re at a house?”
Ashley asked. “Wow, it really is creepy
as they say it is.” Myra commented. “Who says?” “No one specific,
everyone’s been talking about it.” Said Marcus. Teresa came close to
Ashley’s ear. “The story is that there was a woman named Marlene. Her husband,
Max, was an engineer, and was designing a virtual reality machine using parts
of an electric chair for his family’s future. It was only the first time he was
testing his invention out. However, he was crazy enough to call his wife
Marlene, who was pregnant at the time, to try out his invention.” “A pregnant woman to test
out a virtual reality machine, I can’t believe people are that crazy to do
that?” Ashley in disbelief. “I myself can’t believe
it too, but it happens. The first test was a disaster. Marlene was electrocuted
during the process. Her husband tried to stop the machine from running, but it
was broken. There was no way to stop it, and she died just like that from her
injuries right when the ambulance arrived at the scene.” Myra added to Teresa’s
story. “What’s more scary is
that the day she died, her baby was born, but the baby wasn’t fully developed.”
Kyle added. Ashley was horrified to
hear this story. “So…so the baby had a premature birth?” “Precisely. No one knows
where the baby is, but all we know is that a few days later, her husband was
killed, and her baby disappeared.” “This house had a lot of
terrifying events occurring that no one ever stepped inside that house. It’s
been abandoned for years.” Teresa says. “Then…then…wa wa wa why
are we going in there wo wow o wouldn’t someone be already i i in there? A…a..a
killer?” Ashley couldn’t stop stuttering. Fear took over her fast. “Why are you shaking
Ashley, is it because you’re scared?” Marcus teased Ashley. “I’m not scared but this
doesn’t seem right.” Ashley attested. “That’s something a
scaredy cat would say.” Teresa commented. Everyone started laughing at her.
This added some pressure to Ashley. “I’m not a scaredy cat!”
She shouted. “Then there’s nothing to
be afraid of, just come on, we’re just taking a look around.” Ashley gave into
the pressure, and went inside the house along with Teresa and the others. I
didn’t like what I just saw. The inside of the house
looks like a beast has torn this place apart. Except there were no claw marks
anywhere. It was filled with old furniture, spider webs near the ceiling, and
random junk on the floor. “I bet the cops were so
scared they didn’t bother coming back in here just to get rid of the furniture.
I bet all of it is filled by bugs now…ASH, look, a giant spider is beside you!” “AAAH!!” Ashley screams,
covering herself. She looks back up almost relieved. “Gotcha!” Myra laughed. “Wow, this is really
creepy, can we please go?” “Can we please go?” Kyle
mocks her. “Why do you have to ruin the fun for us Ashley?” “Come on, Kyle, she just
can’t help herself.” Myra teased. “Hey guys, there are some
creepy rooms in this house, come upstairs.” Teresa yelled from upstairs. Everyone went upstairs, and looked at
a room. It has a small cupboard with toys and a drawing on a floor. Didn’t I
see this drawing before? “Did this room belong to
a baby?” Marcus asked. “Do you see a crib
dumbass, they must’ve given it to someone else.” Kyle said. “Or maybe a serial killer
came in and made this his hideout, maybe Ashley was right.” Myra said, giggling
to her own joke. “What was I right about?” “About a killer lurking
in here.” Teresa looked around. “Well…who
wants to go in?” “Eih…ah….pick someone.”
Kyle suggested. “Who do you want me to
pick?” “Hey, can I pick someone?”
Marcus volunteered. “Sure, who do you want to
pick?” “I dare Ashley to go
inside.” Ashley was shocked upon
hearing her own name. “What?!” “Ashley?” Teresa asked
for confirmation. “Yeah, why not.” “I don’t see why not, go
inside Ashley.” Teresa said. “Do…do I have to?” Ashley
asked, with a reluctant look on her face. “He picked you so get
inside.” Ashley
didn’t want to go inside, but felt too embarrassed to speak up. She went inside
the room slowly. She was away a few inches from the door. Slam! The door shut
behind her. She ran towards the door, repeatedly banging on the door. “Let me out, LET ME
OUT!!!” “We’ll just leave you in
here for a few minutes scaredy cat.” Teresa mocked. “Guys, this isn’t funny,
let me out!” She pleaded. “Maybe not for you. “He turned to the group. “I don’t know
about you guys but I’m enjoying this.” The
group kept laughing while Ashley was begging to be let out due to fear of the
house. The group eventually opened the door, and Ashley left the building, but
not without getting caught by Myra’s camcorder. The group went inside laughing,
but it immediately stopped and everyone ran outside the door. The recording
stopped from there.
Okay,
most of the group members are dead, but if they were alive I’d be meeting them,
and it won’t end on a positive note. I got some background information from the
video while I was watching it, so I decide to look it up. There are many
articles, each confirming to what Teresa said about the house. One of the
articles piece together the words Skinner gave to me. The first part of his
words leads to a yearbook that contains a comment with my name on it. The
second part was linked to the house incident. Marlene, files in 13, James,
Vinepine, and chair. Marlene got electrocuted by the chair, and the incident
took place at 13 James Vinepine Lane. The only thing I don’t know about are the
files but I know they’re in that house, and I have an address to work with. © 2015 MAMattersAuthor's Note
