Chapter 6

I was just sitting outside of the school, thinking about what I just saw. Who is L.W.? It have my last name on it, and whoever veined eyes is, it’ll come out to kill me for sure. L.W. What do you have against me or the person with that last name?

“Come on Assley, why are you making it harder than it needs to be, especially on yourself. You know how this works, you do what we say, and you’ll only get a slap on the wrist. You don’t want to make it any worse now do you?” Those words of threat came from a blonde haired girl. There was two girls cornering a girl who’s covering her face. She was of long black hair, in a grey sweater and blue pants. She doesn’t like showing her face much. The one standing above, possible the leader of some sorts. She stand tall, and dressed up in a white shirt and a blue and green skirt, dresses as if she was from a private school without any trademark. The other two girls beside her dress the same way, but has brown or brunette hair. I can’t tell the difference. Were they from the same school before coming here?

“Hey Teresa, she’s not responding, why don’t we show her our video once it’s on Youtube.” One of her henchmen, or henchwomen said. The girl that tried to cover her face immediately shows her face. “Oh look, she’s finally responding. Give us what we want, and nothing will happen, you understand? Your Uncle Skinner is not alive to save you now.” Wait, Uncle Skinner? If someone was related to Skinner, then they would know about his death. The girl with a grey sweater, I have my eye on her.

“She just sent me the video. You’re lucky it takes long to upload, you have until then to do what we say, or your face will be all over the world, and there’s nothing you can do about it then. Come on girls, let’s leave.” She was going to leave the scene, but then she turns back and makes eye contact with me. “What are you looking at loser?” I immediately turn away. The sound of their steps is fading, and I look back up. The girl in the grey sweater is gone. Damn, I lost all sight of her. I turn to the blonde girl who was still here on campus. She did know about Skinner’s death, maybe she’ll know more details about it. Besides, she might see the girl in the grey sweater again, and I’ll have a chance to talk to her from there on. I’ll get more information about Skinner which will give me leads to Marlene, James, or this L.W. person. It may also bring some sense into Skinner’s last words.

So far, she hasn’t done anything other than walk. I blend with the crowd, and I stand in the front or at least behind her so I could keep a close eye on her. D****t, when will I find a spot to question her? She look behind me, and I hides within the crowd. I try to hold still so she wouldn’t catch me following her. I look up, and she was gone. How could I lose her that quickly? I look around and find the closest path that she could’ve taken. I follow it, and I begin to run in order to catch up to her. A broken building appears in front of me, and I see her going inside the building. I follow her inside, but once I walk in, there was no footsteps hear other than mines. She’s hiding somewhere, but where? I move my head towards different directions. As I get near the stairs, I hear the sound of footsteps coming from that direction. I run upstairs, but as I come up it gets dark. I move in slowly, trying to find a ray of light that can help me see. Oof! I trip something and hit the floor. My legs felt something hard. I move the object towards me with my legs, and I open it. My thumbs felt small gaps in between as if it were a line of buttons. I pressed one, and a light showed up on a screen. It was a cellphone. I turn the light towards the other direction.

Bam! Eyes turn up looking into my soul as if it were burning it. I calm down and look closely. The girl was lying on a floor, not moving. I check her heart, and I hear no beatings. I look around and saw marks around her neck, someone snapped it. But there was no one else here, no one else but me and this girl. I startle as the phone rings. A name shows up on the screen. Myra.

I don’t press anything.

“Hi this is Teresa, I can’t call right now because I’m busy with whatever. Just leave me a message and I’ll get back to you, if I get the time.” A message came in after the beep.

“Hello, Teresa? I might be going crazy, but I’m starting to think it exists. I’ve been walking home after school and…I think someone’s following me, someone from there. Look, I’m scared to go home. My parents are not home right now, but I don’t want to be there alone…You know what, forget it, it’s just me going crazy, sorry for the call so just forget what just happened. Okay, bye.” What exists? Right now she just sent a voicemail a few minutes after Teresa’s death. Whatever you think exists, it does, and the proof is right in front of me. It might also be the cause of Skinner’s death. Veined eyes is reaching more and more potential victims, and once it does, these people die. I don’t know what to do next, but I know I’m not the only one who sees it. Maybe Myra can tell me more about veined eyes. Maybe she’ll encounter veined eyes again at some point. I’ll need to find her and keep an eye on her until veined eyes shows up. Even if I don’t see veined eyes face to face, I’ll at least need to talk to Myra about the thing she saw, see if there is any connection to Skinner’s incident, his last words, Marlene, James, or L.W.

I was walking through the school hallway, and I notice a couple of guys are pickpocketing a freshmen. The freshmen turn to them.

“What?” one of them ask. The freshmen was so scared he decide to stay silent and turn back. I decide pickpocket some of these guys and secretly show the freshmen the twenty dollar bill.

His eyes are filled with shock. “How did you…”

“Doesn’t matter.” I interrupt. “Take the money and hide it, don’t let them see it.” The kid hides the money. I look at the other money they have, and just put them in my pocket. What better way to steal than to steal it from the professionals themselves.

“Hey, you!” One of the boys call me. I turn around.

“Did you take our money?”

“Depends, did you steal that kid’s twenty-bucks?” I ask back.

Both attempted to punch my face and beat me up, but I put them down and quickly run inside the classroom. The two boys look up and saw my Math teacher inside, and they left in defeat and empty handed. I know they’ll be back, that’s what I’m hoping for. I turn around to take my seat, and then I was in shock when I saw a girl sitting in the front desk. It was fast. I don’t expect this, but Myra was using that desk now, looking like she’s finishing up something. She then packs up, gets up from the desk, and leaves. “Hey, wait!” I said, but she doesn’t listen and just goes away from the classroom. There was a note on the ground, I pick it up. I unfold it, it was a note.

Hey Babe, meet me at the front of the school. We can go for a ride "Kyle.

Hey Kyle, I don’t know who you are, but you’ve just given me a lead to Myra. I do have to watch out though. If I’m going to talk to Myra about what she was talking about, this would mean putting up with her boyfriend.

Myra is talking to a half blonde half brunette man, who I assume to be Kyle. Both of them get on his motorcycle, and ride away from school. I follow. As I was riding my motorcycle, I would often catch Kyle glancing my way, as if he is on alert mode. I keep my face in the direction of my body to make it out as though I wasn’t even looking. It looks like Kyle has bought it, but I feel if he’s still skeptical. He was slowing down and park near some good looking apartment. A hotel, why would they go to a hotel, aren’t they just kids? We goes inside and someone at the front desk talks to him.

“Hey Kyle, how was school?”

“It was good Jeffery.”

“Miss Myra, how are you?”

“I’m fine.”

“Hey, are mom and dad back?”

“You’re mom and dad gone out for a meeting about some upgrades with this hotel. I’m sure this calls for an evening?”

“Yes, and you remember, right?”

“Yes, my lips are sealed.”

“Alright then.” Turns to Myra. “Come on, Babe, let’s go to our castle suite.”

So, his parents own this hotel, no wonder he can just come here. The elevator’s here, and many people walk inside along with Kyle and Myra. I go inside to blend in. I make sure to have other people in my way but not block me from tailing. If he owns this hotel, my guess it’s the very top floor. It looks like I’m going to have to be extra sneaky in this. A few floors before his I walk out and then immediately run upstairs to the very top floor. I look out from the window and manage to catch Kyle and Myra entering a room. Based on my eye sights, his room is not too far from the elevator. I decide to run and begin to walk slowly as I approach the room. I look around the other rooms, and turns out all of the light were off. No one was given the first room. I guess the very top room are the more expensive ones.

I begin walking closely to the room, but the closer I get, the more I see. I saw blood streaming outside of the room. I slowly move my head in, and I find Myra and Kyle lying helplessly and dead on the floor. D****t, I was too late. Now I can’t get information out of her. I look at Kyle’s dead body. The blood is coming from Kyle’s head injury. Something about that injury makes me sick to my stomach. It’s like looking at splattered brain pieces, except I don’t see them yet I know they’re there. I look around the room, and I found a red light beeping from a table. Is that a camcorder? It may tell me what happened before their deaths. I pick up the camcorder, stop the recording, and rewind it to when they first entered the room. The two were making out in bed. Boyfriend and girlfriend, how could I forget that? Kyle goes to the bathroom, and Myra covers herself with the blanket. I look closely in the video of what’s going to happen next, and it shows Myra being dragged under the blankets. It would explain the marks I saw on her neck. Kyle then came outside half naked, and was shocked to see the dead body of Myra. Something of a shadow appeared behind Kyle. Before I have an idea who that was, veined eyes emerged from the shadow. Kyle turned around and took a blow to the head from a broken pipe. Veined eyes got closer, and stared at the camera. I look inside, what message was it trying to say? The recording stops playing, so I put the camcorder down and examined the body again. I look closely on Myra, and her death just reminded me of Teresa, her other friend that died the same was she did.

I look closely at Kyle’s body, and it still makes me sick to my stomach. Is there something about this cut? I bend down, and suddenly a flashback came back to me. I remember sitting like this, gazing on the dead body of my brother. He too had a blow on the head from a broken pipe. This was the exact same killing done on Kyle. Son of a b***h, why don’t I see this before. Veined eyes was my brother’s killer. No wonder it could get out so swiftly like it does. It’s a non-existent being. I couldn’t feel anything normal. I felt my body shaking and fueled with anger. My face was so red that I wanted to release the fire inside of me.

“Veined eyes!” I shout. Come on you b*****d, come out and play. I got business with you, come out if you dare. “I know you’re in here somewhere, I bet you’re waiting to kill me undetected, well you lost that chance. You know I’m not stupid, so why don’t you come out and face me, if you’re not a damn chicken!” I was mostly ready to take on veined eyes, but a part of me was worried about this call out. Veined eyes can come from any direction in an instant. I look in to find traces of eyes within the shadows. Are the eyes really there, or am I seeing an illusion?

Kyle and Myra gets up. Wait, aren’t they dead? When they get up, they both give me a cold look. But it was more than just a cold look. They aren't dead, but it doesn’t want me here. But maybe they do, as Myra locks the door. Uh oh, I think I know where this is heading. I get up, and the next thing I know Kyle starts to restrain me, and Myra threw in a few punches on my stomach. I kick her away and break free of Kyle’s grab. If I could recall what just happened now, while Kyle have me in a headlock, his heart doesn’t beat. How can he be alive if is heart doesn’t pump? I quickly took them down and quickly dart out of the scene. I took the stairs to escape from their wrath. As I was running, each time I lose balance moving to the next step, I feel closer to death. I make it out of the building alive, but I have to get out of their before they pick up my sight and follow me.
