With technology as it is, the single push of a button could bring about our demise. So what I'd it happened?

And with a singular push of a button, you became a merciless god
Just for the terrifying minutes before our demise
You became the man that stuck out his middle finger at us all
You stood unmoving, waiting for the impending doom
I closed my eyes and drowned out the sirens
I wasn't sad, but I felt such pity for myself
I never got to love or grow to my prime
And it would all be over with the push of a button
How strangely everything ended
But no one would know
And, like a shooting star, I saw Armageddon
Down, down, over the horizon, quietly falling...
No sound but the wailing of the sirens.
