The selfs fallA Poem by MADAMA man journeys to cut down the last tree in the world...the knowledge tree.
The selfs fall
I walked along the middle of the forked path I held my sanity inside my clenched fist I held my axe in the other Into the forest of the demon Lebanon I went My steps made no noise as I reached the center of the garden I saw the ripened tree with awe I resisted the temptation to take a fruit Instead I began to chip away at the thick bark My mind surged with knowledge and I began to cry The artificial forest around me cradled me and sang a lullaby It tried to stop me but I kept going Waves of sadness engulfed me as I saw how meaningless I was How meaningless it was to cut down the knowledge tree In a decaying universe all I wanted was warmth for myself My bare naked heart beat slowly I hacked at the tree rhythmically until it finally fell At that moment I realized for a moment I felt the warmth in my heart An absolute satisfaction But then the tree fell without a sound And I was petrified from the cold Lightning struck me down and I felt a jolt of memory I felt the warmth of the mother tree as I killed her She embraced me and carried me to nothingness © 2014 MADAMAuthor's Note
