The law of the land
The law of the land is to not feel. Do not feel the satisfaction of achievement Do not feel the sorrow of loss Do not feel the joy of the blue birds song Do not feel the hatred of those surrounding If you are yourself you will only become lost in the waves of sadness that bury me from head to toe The mass manufacturing of my feelings are overwhelming my heart I begin to chop at the knowledge tree in hopes to save myself But It comes tumbling down without a sound I reach out to the angels back to no avail I bite from the forbidden fruit and find that the answer is not to feel It's the law of the land if you don't want to suffer But the price comes swiftly and punishes me My black blood wants to be blue like the sky, but it becomes red like fire I betray the law and become enraged at my foolishness I am lonely I live in no mans land There are many here, but we don't talk We sit in silence watching the cactus dry in the sun The crow barks at the ground And all is right with the world We, the law breakers, are cast away like a rag onto a vast plane Alone The self does not suffer any longer And we burst into a world of buoyant colors And I finally comprehend that I will always be lonely living in this world So I let go of myself and find that I am enlightened And I rid myself of purpose I am not me I am all I am the law And I now have to set the law of the land as god said when he turned a blind eye on me I am now my own god And the law of the land is to not feel, even though you must feel to rid yourself of them. © 2014 MADAM |
