ChoicesA Poem by M. J. C. MataIt is inevitable. You may ignore, avoid it, delay it, but the fact remains-you must face it.
Am I to make a poem that rhymes
As I have done so many times? Or perhaps a poem that runs so free, Though it's somewhat difficult for me. Will this poem tell the truth to her, Or simply keep the fact from her? That I loved her then and I love her now, Yet I'm bound to my fate's adamant vow. Am I to seek the halls of fame, And risk my mind to play this game? Are the god's the ones who draw my lots, Or am I the one who sketches plots? Shall I stop and quit, and let chance die, Or proceed with madness life's sweet lie? Shall I hum a tune of yearning years? Or kneel down and weep some bitter tears? Choices are given my choice is made Before life's candle lights finally fade. I will stop for now but will not cease To make my choice 'til I sleep in peace. © 2008 M. J. C. Mata |
