If I Were to Close my Eyes

If I Were to Close my Eyes

A Poem by Lysta

If I were to close my eyes,
I wonder what I would see.
Would I be able to see through the lies,
Everyone keeps telling me?

Would my eyes view upon a river of tears,
Condensed clouds of gloom?
A hurricane of intimidating fears,
That leaves integrity no room?

Will there be a burnt out Sun,
A star that no longer shines.
Hearts getting corrupted, one by one,
Darkness, that defines.

I like your poem, it leads me on a path of wondering. It also begs for a follow up poem, perhaps titled "When I Closed My Eyes". Nice inspiration, dear poet. I hope you will continue this theme.
