Dear past selfA Poem by LyricThis is just some of the advice I imagine I'd give myself in the future
Dear past me,
Don't let worries keep you down, Smile even when you frown and be free, Please don't tell yourself who you can and cannot be, Or sit in the bathtub when you should be swimming in the sea, You are beautiful, so please don't think that ignorance is the same as being youthful, Or that being bitchy is the same as being truthful, Or that not being perfect is the same as not being useful, When it comes to recommendations and suggestions don't take them like commands, Only trust people so imperfectly pure you'd eat out of their perfectly imperfect hands, Love the people who love you, And when you start to make plans for your future, Let their memories stick to you like orange spray tan on a summers day, cause no matter how big you get they'll always be your biggest fans, Take time to work and time to play, You live in tomorrow girl, But this is today, Take what you want but remember that nothing anybody ever got ever promised to stay, Do not forget where you come from, If you turn out to be the next Maya Angelo/ Janet Jackson/ Beyonce, Don't let them define who you become, Love yourself. Don't let anyone tell you not too. Love the world you live in. It's doing the best it can do. Forgive yourself. And understand that not everyone is as innocent as you. There are evil people in the world. And not everyone need a reason to hate. Keep going never stop. Do what you wanna do. Long way to the top. © 2015 LyricReviews
