why she writesA Story by Lyric
The girl holds her pencil between her teeth, rolling the wood back and forth as her eyes move over her keyboard. She holds the button down on her phone , looking for the right song and the right artist to jar her imagination. Waiting for the words to pop into her brain, just like magic, just like they always do.
The truth is, everyone thinks she writes, because she's good at it. But no. That's not how things work. That's not how the world works, you don't always love what your good at. Being 'gifted' is one extra diamond in a pile that wouldn't miss it for a piece of dust. She writes, because she's figured our that when she writes, whether she puts it to music, or raw off the page, people listen. They listen, and she loves the look on faces, that realization that, wow, this kid is different. This kid can do, whatever she says she's going to do, and this time, when I say that to her I won't be lying. I'm that girl. That teenager that has a spec of the entire picture in the back if her mind of who she'll be. The girl, now filled with thoughts and images numbers the page, writing each idea down on top of each other, squinting at the brightness of the screen and nodding to music pouring into her ears. When that page is in front of her, that music surrounds her and those rebellious thoughts are in her mind, her fears disappear onto that page. And then into the world. © 2015 LyricReviews
