choose

A Poem by Lyric

This just came to me and iv been meaning to write it

My eyes open,
And there's a man on my side,
He wears a dark cloak that hides his face but his presence is filled with pride,
"It is time." He says. " For you to decide. Good luck, my child, you are out for a ride."
He pushes me forward,
To three men drenched in red,
"Their names are Evil Fright and Mislead."
I nod In reply at the strange things he's said.
"All three of these men hide something in their palm, two hide love and peace and one holds a bomb, choose wisely young one, I recommend you stay calm."
I move back slightly, wiping away beads of sweat,
How am I to make such a gamble on things, such a worthless dangerous bet?
I can not ever be sure, it's hopeless, and yet,
I study the men, that are so drenched in red,
My eyes ready to leak, as I hope and fret.
"Your time is running out."
The man has said,
"Hurry, child, that you may return to your bed."
His smile is kind, his voice is sweet,
And I study them once more but now my choice is complete,
I choose the man In the middle, who's face is fierce,
Pick up a pebble and throw it at his feet.
"I have chosen, sir, your challenge I shall now beat."
The man walks in front of me,
And around him stirs heat,
His arms fly through the air and his men disappear,
"I understand this, and so it is clear."
He says, his cloak flies off of him, and lands much too near.
I jump back at his face,
And the cloak that hid it,
Which has now grown so dreadfully missed and dear,
"I was the man with the bomb. One had nothing." He smiles.
And from my eyes fall a tear,
Of the nightmare and lesson, so terribly drear.
