S.A.T.

S.A.T.

A Poem by Lyric
"

A lot of kids, a lot of kids like me, who are A plus students are judged unfairly, by this test, a message needs to be shared, and, it starts with me

"
S.A.T.
What do I mean to you?
What do you mean to me?

S.A.T.
You decide my eternity,
so,
why must you be so harsh,
this is why you are the enemy,
to every kid like me,

S.A.T.

They tell me of your power,
well,
test,
tell me who i'll be.

S.A.T.

Tell me who I am,
if,
i'll always be a slave to things like you,
is there a time where i'll be free?
Is that really even true?
Show me the things,
they say i'll never see without you,
apparently,
Tell me my secrets,
my thoughts and worth,
teach me,
about me,
give me the key,
to my success,
the key to my best,
now that i'm done with you,
where is my key,

S.A.T.?

the one that unlocks the highroad, that leads to the best place I should be.
Oh,
now I see.

S.A.T.

I'm gonna tie down the eternity of who we are,
with gold rope and chain so it never escapes,
and then write down all of our worries and pain,
on worthless pieces of paper like you,
and speak up,
until your problems reach fortune and fame,

S.A.T.

I write it here,
but I will never speak your name,
until every kid like me's anxiety is caught and tamed.

S.A.T.

You're narrow minded,
and you are to blame.

S.A.T.

All the kids who need words to express their brightness,
and can't be kept inside your box shaped tightness,

S.A.T.

You've given us a quarter life crisis.
And yet you still claim that you're the best thing for us.
I will scream,
through words,
which you have taken away from me,
I will fight, and fuss,
I will not stop,
things need to better for us,

S.A.T.

We have hearts,
and souls,
and stories to be told,
and we all deserve to live those stories,
before we grow old,
we can't do that by filling in boxes,
and accepting whatever you've foretold,
about where we belong in this world.
With words,
and pictures,
with our minds,
and hearts,
with pen and paper,
with music and art,
that's where we're bold,
that's where we start,
to show our intellect,
and you have no part,
you have no say,

S .A. T.

Please don't tell me who i'll be.

Finally, someone who comprehends the pain that I'm going through. Yes Lyric, you're absolutely right about the SAT. It's given far more vehemence than necessary and it somehow has the power to take away any talent, passion( eventually the life) of those who fail to branch out to its standards.

I hope that we break its boundaries. And one day change it for the better of the students of our age group.

Best Of luck anyway. Do well.

I think you captured your feelings perfectly in this poem. You also bring up a good point about tests in schools. I really like how you always pick such thought provoking topics to write about.
Oh, and about the S.A.T I never had to take it but when I applied to college I had to take the A.C.Ts and they really weren't that bad and I am sure that if you put your mind to it you will do fine
