It’s good to have contacts

Ch 25

Xun is safe, she’s searching for the captured gods.

The note was short, but Jianyu read it over several times, as if hoping more details would appear. 

“I thought you said you didn’t have any contact with the palace,” Jianyu said calmly. Too calmly. 

Yu’luo blushed, but Yu’bo just shrugged. “Our contacts are… flexible. At leas you know she’s safe now,” he said, waiving at the note.

Jinayu looked thoughtful. “Is there anyway your contact could smuggle me into the palace?” He asked. 

The twins exchanged a glance. “It could be possible,” Yu’Bo said.

“Maybe,” Yu’luo said. “But it might take a while to get everything arranged.”

“How long?” 

“I’m not sure,” Yu’luo hedged. 

“At least a week or two,” Yu’Bo cut in. “But our contact will definitely keep Xun safe.”

Jianyu didn’t look relieved. “How would your contact get me inside?”

“He can bring you in with the evening patrol of the city. If your illusions are good enough to get past the Palace defenses.”

Jianyu scoffed, “I’ve been sneaking in and out of the palace since I was 5,000 years old. The problem is that everything has been reinforced with Merfolk magic. I can overpower it, I’m sure, but it would take time.”

“Faster than a week?” Yu’bo said, a bit mockingly.

Jianyu thought, “Probably not.”

“I’ll see what our contact can arrange,” Yu’luo said, excusing himself. Yu’Bo followed his brother out, leaving Jianyu to brood.
