I sleep alone at night

I sleep alone at night

A Poem by "L" alone

I sleep alone at night

In the middle, with six soft pillows

Bound by silken sheets and downy blankets

Entangled in dreams unknown

Breathing the sweet scents of lavender

Alone in a room of distant memories

Carried in the folds of my mind

I seek no solace, I yearn for nothing

Spread eagle in the delight of slumber

My mind wanders to images of

Lovers entangled

Wind swept beaches

Soft cubby cheeks of newborn babies

Luscious berries on bright green vines

I sleep alone at night

Listening to midnight melodies

Shadows flecked across pale blue walls

Sighing with anticipation in a new days beginning

Rejuvenated, alive…..
