Crying Blood

Crying Blood

A Poem by Lyndsay Castro
"

a taboo, neglected issue

"

My love is gone, taken far away

The proper lover stole it but didn't say

That he did it for his love of me

And that everything's okay, I'd see

But razor's edge takes all the pain

I try and try, but can't refrain

I miss my lover, miss my friend

I miss watching my wounds mend

An outright scar for inner pain

Makes heartfelt woes just melt away

But my owner is angry, he doesn't care

That cutting, to me, is only fair

It's not against him, it's not his fault

No matter what, though, he's distraught

I know it hurts him, but that's just it

Not cutting myself just doesn't fit

I need to bleed, to cry, to scream

But I know he's scared of what it means

When blood flows all else is small

And I can stand up straight, not fall

This is a subject that most people hide under the carpet and pretend it doesn't exsist. I love the explination. I had a friend that use to cut and I asked her one day "why do you do this to yourself?" and she simply replied "so I can feel something." My heart broke and I didn't understand before and after her words it was clear. She was numb and needed something to feel. Great write!

Don't do it.
But yeah, I've been there.

This is very clearly a well written piece. It takes a true artist/poet to describe such agony and pain, to allow the reader to feel the emotions that spring forth from this poem. Thank you for sharing. Debileah
