"Where were you last night you silly cat?" Cammy gently scolded as she shut the sliding glass door behind her mischievous feline friend. She followed Jackson to the kitchen where he immediately assaulted his food and water dish. She knelt down beside him and started stroking his sleek black fur. This wasn't the first time he had disappeared at night. She chuckled softly. He often reminded her of her ex boyfriend.
Almost two months later.
Cammy calmly placed the phone back onto the receiver and stood in the middle of the kitchen. She hadn't expected a phone call from that woman. What was it that she wanted Cammy to see? Could she still be angry about what happened last year? "Well that's a stupid question," she told herself. "Of course she is." She hadn't sounded to happy. Actually, she concluded as she thought about it, it seemed as if it was taking all the woman had to keep from screaming.
Five blocks later Cammy stopped in the driveway of the double wide trailer where he used to live. She forced her feet to walk toward the house once again. She was just about to knock on the door when it flew open and Carla stood there glaring at her. Then before Cammy could protest, Carla reached forward and grabbed her wrist and started dragging her down the hallway to the kitchen.
Carla finally let go after they reached the kitchen and pointed to the floor in front of the refrigerator where her own cat was lounging. "Look!" Carla demanded angrily. "It was your cat that did it. He was prowling around here a couple of months ago. It seems that he's just as horny as his owner."
Cammy shot her a bitter look but didn't say anything.
"Just found out from the vet today. I thought she might've just been getting fat but no, she's pregnant." she stated flatly.
Cammy stared at the bulging stomach of the now, unmistakably pregnant feline.
"And I am not having anything in this house that's somehow related to you." Carla said hatefully as she picked up the calico cat and shoved her into Cammy's arms. Carla pointed back to the front door and Cammy turned around and started walking without saying anything.
Oh how she hated this woman. Cammy had just stepped outside and was holding the screen door open with her free hand when she smiled slyly and looked over her shoulder. "So, how's Carl?"
