Burnt bridges

Burnt bridges

A Poem by Lykos

I let out a gut wrenching scream from the depths of my soul,
For the way things ended and the time that you stole.
Minutes to months that I'll never get back,
While you led me blinded to the end of the track.

The way you treated me was so very crappy,
But in the end, I'll be the one smiling and happy.
It did hurt and I didn't know how long it would last,
But now, I've buried those feelings, they're left in the past.

This time I won't come back, I won't return,
This will be a hard lesson for you to learn.
You tried your tricks, but this isn't a game,
Left behind and with only yourself to blame.

You only now try and get me to stay,
But I'm not doing it again, I'm walking away,
I can see you standing there with your teary eyed look,
But this time I didn't turn the page, I burned the book.

Relationship based verse is so very difficult to write but this confronts the pain and turns it back upon itself then, shouts a cry of victory. Nicely wrought.

Well expressed. One time too many. Too many bridges. There was great strength in this write. A feeling of enough is enough. Time to move on. Relationship breakups can be messy. Being messed about is the pits. Well done.

Gee
Loved that last line. You write well on relationship break ups, hopefully not by having gone through to many :)
