Into oblivion

I seem to have lost it
I don't like to admit
I don't know where to look
I wish I had a guidebook

For a time it was within my grasp
Undone by metaphorical clasp
But it slipped and disappeared
It is as I feared

Now non existent
I became very distant
What am I to do
The route has gone from view

It may be gone forever
I hope it will get better

It depends on the poet's taste. Traditionally punctuation is used. I've been nailed for lack of it in the class room, but opinions vary. I still think its a magnificent poem.
