What lies beyond

In my mind you can't possibly fathom
All the unexplainable thoughts that happen.
It comes from over thinking
It's like an annoying ringing.

They spring up in the quiet
Turning my head into a full-blown riot.
I find it hard to escape these thoughts
Leaving my stomach in sickening knots.

I try and purge them out and forget
Down my brow rolls a drop of sweat.
It's not all happiness in my head
I tend to linger on the dead.

I think about God but I comprehend
And know it's all pretend.
The questions turn to the universe
But it is too diverse.

We seek answers to what lies out of sight
The galaxy is as endless as the black night
For out there is waiting to be explored
Like a journey to a treasure horde.

I guess we will continue wondering.
Which isn't all that comforting.
