Night Run

Night Run

A Poem by ANM

Night running only the sound of the wind and your heart pounding,

Blood rushing through your veins feet feeling their way stone by stone,

Muscles working expand and contract uphill downhill headlong Rush,

Moonlight fleeting lighting the way from the next mountain ridge,

Miles slipping by counted in breathes measured in joyous paces,

On to the end most natural of highs realising what we were born to do.

oh did I hike that mountain with you just to be able to watch, from its top, rosy fingered Dawn followed by sunrise to get my head morning dew covered for being sit in the middle of a cloud . My feet ache my lung gasping for air, rosy cheek but thanks for the experience so well described . I say YES let's do it again!

That was beautiful and the way you detailed the picture for readers to envision your words was greatly done!

The imagery is so very good here. I can see the lone runner, hear the pounding of feet, the sound of breathing with the wind as those starlit miles slip by.

Excellent stuff.

You are welcome muchly...:)........
There seems to be a lot of runners in here. I like this poem a lot. Really captures the feel. The rush. One thing, breathes should be breaths.

Thank you and well spotted!!
A wonderful poem my friend, I'm not much of a runner anymore, hard on my knees...
But I do mountain bike as you know, and love strapping the lights on and going for a night ride through the forest. Never alone of course, it's a bit scary but once you get over that it's just gorgeous as anything.
