Her

Her

A Poem by Lydia J
"

This is a poem for a contest I am participating in.

"
I can still remember
Sometime last December
The day I met a stranger
So innocent yet full of danger

Her skin was so fair
Contrasting her gorgeous black hair
She had the perfect smile
And her own cute style

My heart felt as though it would explode
As she looked up at me and time slowed
I freaked and started to hurry away
But she just smiled and told me to stay

I was obedient and did as she said
While trying not to drop dead
She asked me what I came to buy
I told her I just came to drop by

I realized my time with her was too short
I really wish I had some support
"How much for two chickens?" I asked
She replied, "They're going pretty fast."

I watched her forehead wrinkle
As she was calculating and then said just a nickle
I "accidentally" gave you an extra dime
So I see you again and read you this rhyme

Very nice Lydia! I enjoyed the smoothness of this story; easy to read. Reminded me of my month in South Korea at the markets. You did a nice job using all 10 words. Nothing seemed forced. Wonderful job! Thank you for entering the 10 Words I Give Contest. Hope to see you next round!!
