A Poem by Lydia Shutter

your kisses brought the blush
back to my cheeks
my kisses tattooed your soul
your words refilled
the empty ewer inside me
through imagery and metaphor
we brought parts of us to life
parts we never really knew
yes, we were alive together
more alive than we are apart
and even now
i think of you as  my
”happily ever after”

"yes, we were alive together
more alive than we are apart"
As someone who has just gone through a breakup, all these romantic poems break my heart over and over again. Yet somehow they make me believe in love again. Oh, what a wonderful poem, thank you.

We do need those tasty kisses dear Lydia. Keep us young in heart. These are the memories that make us smile in old age. A wonderful dance of words my dear friend. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.

Happy anniversary(read your reply to Lorry)
31 years married myself so can fully relate to your finely laid words, and my much bitten tongue is testament to the time and effort in making a relationship work :)

To show that some part of the complexity of life and living was worth it, as well as oh so memorable.

Very true Lydi. It would be a momunent...monulent... really big achievement indeed! 😃
Each and every line seems familiar... emotions distorted in the sad ever after. Thank Space and Time for allowing memories to etch wherever they can. You know how to say deep, dark thoughts yet have the artistry to stand proud, dear Lydi.

Thanks so much! Lydi**
As the past tense is used in this one, I get the impression the addressee is no longer in the picture. Still, his presence is powerfully felt, as the last two lines indicate. When feelings have been as deep as those described here, one is never totally in the past.

togetherness is a special bond to last eternally...being alive and laughing, crying, embracing, sensing....this bond seems especially important as it brought back all the emptiness felt....and all the love that was missing...."more alive than apart".....lovely
