safe

safe

A Poem by Lydia Shutter

the sky moves seductively
in shades of gold, pink, and orange
i see your forever blue eyes peek out from a cloud

time seems blurred on days like this
some would say i am tethered to the past
others might think i have raced haphazardly into the future
but i know i am right now…in the moment

i must tend to my bruises
set the lingering pain free
words will be my medicine
till i feel safe between the lines of my poetry
almost as safe as i felt in your arms.

This was lovely. Some say we shouldn't exist in the moment. I say what else is there? We do what needs to be done and get on with the business of living while we can. If we can pen some of it down in words to share, all the better. I enjoyed the read. F.

I can think of no better place to take refuge than within one's own poetry. There you are in the moment and in control.

Lydi, this is just beautiful!
The bestliest complimentation I can bestowed on you is.....wait a minute!!!!! Blue eyes????? Well, I guess its not about me then, because my eyes are brown!
I don't think I'm going to tell you now!!!!!!
But you know I will, because for a guy that's perfectly happy with silence, I can go on a bit when typing! ☺ ☺ ☺
So as I was saying.....this is so double plus good, that even Napoleon (in animal farm, not the warmongering s**t in that place called history) that it should be called at least triple plus good, that........
NOPE!, Can't do it I'm afraid!
I mean, blue eyes.....really!
Hope you're as well as your pen is...
Lorry. ☺

Well, almost too late, but aww shucks! ☺
Safe in his arms, safe in between the lines of poetry; we all desire that survival and safety net. We have to overcome the lingering pain if we can.
I like the subtle romance on this poem.
