my melody

my melody

A Poem by Lydia Shutter

Indifference On Plastic / Acrylic by Mario Sanchez Nevado Print

artwork by mario nevado

my melody of words

is suddenly off key

the world has gone crazy

or perhaps it’s just me!

my sleep is interrupted

my wake up just falls flat

my tact is non-existent

i’m no longer a diplomat!

i still worry about humanity

i've always had compassion

but when I help a stranger

i’m told it’s out of fashion!

yes, my melody is not the same

perhaps it shall never be

not sure what will wake up

the poet i used to be!

great piece of a write. can feel the poet's way of thoughts, it's meandering live a river that's waiting to find the right meaning of flowing and glowing. world is ever crazy, we sometimes are too. But, one thing for sure, there will be times like these when we feel all blue and nothing seems true. Time is a big healer and we will feel fine again and great for all this life is. I can sense a touch of disappointment or an experience not so pleasant. Whatever it is, you are the poet you used to be :) Such an evoking write, thanks for sharing Lydia.

I believe dear Lydia. All we have is kindness and to hope. We can make the world a better place.

I grasp the above lines. I believe kind, never out of fashion my dear friend. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry and your thoughts.

I loved the poetry and me too dear Lydia. You are welcome.
Wow. Love to see you toll around with rhyme. I have been trying to wake up my inner poet for the last 24 months ... not sure what will come of it, but I am still swinging the pen LOL. ~Jim

I used to rhyme all the time, but I find free verse is easier to express ideas. You will hit a home.. read more
I know of this ailment well Lydi. It's technical term is too rude to mention in front of a lady, but it's symptoms are these four key ingredients...
1...forgetfulness
B....lethargy
3...No thought/ all thought syndrome, where there is nothing in your head, or everything at once.
And D.... Forgetfulness!

Some previous years I had written 300 pieces in a year. Last year I barely broke fifty!
Well, fifty pieces and what in closer inspection turned out to be 87 unfinished shopping lists!
I am feeling more optimistic for the year ahead though. I've been going through my goldfish bowl of post it notes again, narrowing them down to just words, phrases or sentences I didn't want to throw out and it has given me a bit of inspiration by joining the dots of what I wanted to say, along with a pic some kindly soul on here used for a piece once and I of course ask permission to use it.
But what I'm trying to say is... I forget!
No! It is this. Just when you are feeling so uninspired, is exactly the kind of time inspiration will strike.
Of you are still struggling for words, let us know and we will all send you some words free of charge to inspire you.
I'll send you my favourite words, like Squishy, bouncy, Haribo and obsequient.... AND I DEMAND THAT YOU TAKE THEM! 😊

The Haribo
is a Squishy sort
I dropped him once

Yep and it really goes so much against the grain, is it why this world is at almost total war?
So then again I calm down and figure like me you're old school
when/where once to help a friend or even stranger in need, would not result in invasive
litigation subpoenas, despite our good intentions, crazy, crazy, any wonder I sink into guiness??

As ever always your meter is perfect, the humour calls out to this reviewer; that in spite of your busy world. Believe me, tis not you out of step, it's everything else.. please, never change, Lydi.

Everybody is out of touch and out of style in some way- but it's nice that you've held onto the values that are still important to you.
As we ripen and mature, so do our preferences.
I liked what you had to say.
