dance

dance

A Poem by Lydia Shutter

artwork by shibashake

dance

whether someone is watching nor not

in your car

in the mirror

on the cool sand of the beach

‘neath the flickering moonlight

dance

because for just a few moments

you will be free

stress will cha-cha out the door

or perhaps watusi into another realm

so dance

just because

the music might be over soon

I have a Bose in my kitchen, so I'm always barefoot and dancing like nobody's watching, with the exception of my cats. I think they must think I'm having some sort of seizure! Lovely photo and much enjoyed the ambience that made me want to twirl. May the music never end!

(My feet no longer dance across the floor. I limp with the rheumatism of age. But pictures in my mind are as clear as ever before so I let my words go dancing... across an pristine page.) But I so agree, best to dance while we still can. :)

You are welcome dear Lydia. And I appreciate you my dear friend.
I like this poem and the idea to dance while we can, live and love while we can, make friends and life better and sweeter while we can. Sometimes the joy of life is all found in the dance. MM

advice to live by Lydi ... i am 100% on your side .. dance like a wild child and don't think a twit about what it may look like to others ... especially like the "...cha cha out the door" line ..

Such a true poem of love, perhaps forbidden romance. Its structure and content is out of this world Lydi. I am in awe.

Thank you so much for sharing your take on my words, Ken. Lydi**
Lydi! What a wonderful picture, what a wonderful inspiration your poem is, start to finish! You've created and shared what life is or can be: dance, feel the beat of music and LIFE let the good times roll.. roll out the probs! Is true, music sets the feet dancing this way, that way.and so doing, moves that not so nice place into the peripheral

Of course, one has to dance bare foot, feel the power through ever toe, every pore. Paw?!

Wishing you a happy and bright 1 June and its other twenty nine siblings (Lydi)

Promise you, Lydi.. that's just how it will be. Laughing.. what a thought. (Lydi)
It is amazing how dancing can make one feel inside. It is definitely rejuvenating and energizing. I have had it happen so many times, you are sitting there, some music playing in the background and then that song comes on, you start tapping your foot and before you know it you are in the middle of a freeform expression while wearing the biggest smile on your face. Keep dancing my friend...

Dear Lydi,

I loved the way you said it. We never know when the music may be over. Life gives no notice, no warning. The here and now is all we have and what better way to celebrate the state of being than to dance. I loved the flow of the poem, the beautiful imagery and things mentioned and the unforgettable artwork. This poem will stay with me and I'll think of your words whenever I dance. Thank you so much for this gem, dear friend.
