frozen latte musing

frozen latte musing

A Poem by Lydia Shutter

here i sit
soaking up sunlight
watching it scattering glitter on the lapis ocean

i ponder...
is it even possible
to cling to little girl dreams
while making big girl decisions?

my heart is still filled with hopeful expectation
but my mind is replete with too much reality

disjointed thoughts pirouette
in the warm sand
till the cup that has appeared in my hand
grabs my attention

the bendable straw does a cosmic dance
through the whipped cream
then dives into my frozen latte
        a bit of ambrosia
               ahhhh…the sensation
finally freezing out all the ugliness
of the world i find myself in

A somehow thoughtful visual - a place to be.. watching ;my' choice of place to be. Reminds me of 'I must go down to the sea.. Something special on the shore of a vast watery world, sun shining silver on the waves, none of the black and grey of the never noisy, troubled world. The sea breeze is the best cleanser in the world, add that sip of frozen latte and inside and out: gentle is, gentle be' gently reaches into the very core of you.

' here i sit
soaking up sunlight
watching it scattering glitter on the lapis ocean

i ponder...
is it even possible
to cling to little girl dreams
while making big girl decisions?

Little girl, big girl..life is real by water..

We often think and feel alike, Lydi, in spite of a vast ocean between us.:)

This is a sweet write using a wonderful metaphor to illustrate so much. So many lines I like even if they are about girls and drinking latte. Which I don't do but can understand albeit vaguely.

No, it was girls and drinking latte that I only understand vaguely.
Lydi**, a whipped cream frozen latte will never be the same after reading your lines. I have just had whipped cream on a hot chocolate and can confirm that it is comforting to know that something that simple can help heal a low mood. A lovely read and your posted artwork never fails to please. Thank you.

Oh yes, hot chocolate just HAS to have whipped cream on top of it. I so appreciate your review and .. read more
There is a quiet innocence and comforting serenity to your poem today, though the undertow feels a bit low to me. I love the question of clinging to little girl dreams while making big girl decisions. The ending was deeply touching but understood. Overall, your poetry was the fresh air and sunshine that was needed this dreary winter day down here.
