Life seems determined to try us beings, 'day- bright turns to darker than dark' in its hundred and one guises, don''t you think. Little things can thrill, great things can overpower', seems moods and hopes can vary according to is or that one.
. 'the space between joy and grief - is not easily navigable - i must remind myself'
Joy and grief parry blows, guess we have to deal with that.. hateful and hurtful though it is, dear Lydi.
My love and thought are flying on and up.. look for them, please. Special words, special friend.

How can so much change in someone's life in an instant, when the world keeps spinning as normal for everyone else, while you are left having to hold on for balance at anything within reach?
"Wish I could unhear the words" is a sentence I've probably thought or spoke way too much for comfort in a world that gets more confusing by the day.
Your words along with the golden tears of the painting, reverberate in a way the artist would have nodded approvingly at.

"the space between joy and grief
is not easily navigable..."
So true, Lydi! Leaving California and coming back home was both joyful and a time of grief. The words you've penned reverberate to me what the past few months have been like, that no one took notice of. The analogy amazes me. Thank you for this something special!

melancholy, on the edge of brooding ... who can not relate to the theme ... many tragic disappointments can plug into the story here .. no ... constant is no of earthly realms ;) well done .. the golden tears are so painfully emotive ...

i am never disappointed taking time on your streets Lydi!
Indeed, for every beginning there is an end. In the material world, nothing lasts, which is one reason why we should become acquainted with the spiritual one.
I must say I love that opening line before I continue to the rest of this poem.
We all feel like that. Some more than others when it becomes an ailment. And of course here in the north there is always SAD.
But few of us can describe it so well and so fluently.
It is difficult indeed to navigate the space between grief and joy, the beginning and the ending but perhaps it must be done to keep moving on in the journey called life. The beauty as well as the sadness in life is that nothing is constant, as you so beautifully state here. It's wonderful to reconnect with your poetry, dear Lydia. I always love your chosen artwork too.

I am always inspired by your beautiful poetry.
You are welcome, dear Lydi.
There is always an in between and how big or small that is depends. We can accept what we find or we can change i. If small it may no be insignificant and if large it does not mean it is important. It only matters what we expect it to be. Really nucely done Lydi
