forget to remember

forget to remember

A Poem by Lydia Shutter

fumes of long ago

become so much more enticing

as the calendar pages flip

they tickle my brain

of course i like to appease myself by thinking

yours is tickled by the remembrance of my perfume

on nights such as this one

i have no choice but to relive

(even for just a few moments)

that which my brain refuses to discard

the candelabra of memory

is more than willing to light the way

embers of long ago desire

rekindle the emotions

but truly

a one hit wonder

is what we were you know

laughter floated through the humid air

in the year winter never came

the burgeoning of desire

sparked it all

and even now

i can’t forget to remember

It happens. Tis said that happy memories remain because they light one's Forever but, sad memories drown the what might have been. Your words are always meaningful, Lydi, this one has more than more, dear lady.

if only there had been a second hit...might have been a fad...that turned into permanence, like the Beatles.
I guess desire gets fulfilled in heated muse of sensuality...and then we go our separate ways...
and perhaps that is for the best...the flame never gets the chance to cool...it is blown out before that can happen.

I relive those moments and appreciate this poem, very much.

So pleased you felt the words, Jacob. Where would poetry be without memories? Lydi***
Wow! Intense emotions of remembrance the good times in this marvelous poem. Reliving good memories is good; reliving bad ones not so much.
Painting is awesome...
