' on nights such as this one - i have no choice but to relive - (even for just a few moments) - that which my brain refuses to discard '
It happens. Tis said that happy memories remain because they light one's Forever but, sad memories drown the what might have been. Your words are always meaningful, Lydi, this one has more than more, dear lady.

Dear Lydi,
There are some memories that just refuse to go away, try as we may, telling ourselves that they are not truly worth holding on to. Perhaps, we were touched somewhere too deep and our hearts cannot help it....
I always love your poetry for its gently whispered realizations, the sweetness of memories and the beauty of words and of course the choice of stunning artwork that goes with each poem.

Divya, your reviews are a ray of sunshine in my day! Thank you so much. Lydi**
I adore the below lines dear Lydia.
"the candelabra of memory
is more than willing to light the way
embers of long ago desire
rekindle the emotions"
In the midnight hours. We do wander to better places and pretty faces. Thank you dear friend for sharing the amazing poetry.

I did dear Lydia and you are welcome my dear friend.
I do wonder if any of the now unforgettable ones remember me, or would even be able to pick me out from a lineup of one. I do hope that at least seeing a picture of me now would itch their brain into remembering, but when we remember them it is always with a smile for the moments we were together and the world being so much smaller back then.
I just hope the memory doesn't make them shudder 😊

There are some things and people we can’t forget. This poem is beautifully written Lydi and it may have been a one hit wonder but it has survived the years. Must have been something. Some lovely lines penned
the candelabra of memory
laughter floated through the humid air
Happy new year to you.

poetry at its finest. those memories anchor us in a tossing sea.

What a great quote from Thoreau, Pete. Thank you very much. Happy New Year to you. Lydi**
(laughter floated through the humid air in the year winter never came the burgeoning of desire sparked it all) Beautifully written from start to finish Lydi! Love this one. ~Sharon
ahahaha! I love this title to closing .. "i can’t forget to remember" .. sheesh! what a conundrum to think about! your opening line with "fumes...." .. i immediately thought of deisel fumes from buses i jumped on and off of in the wild lands of youth ... we must not forget out passions ... we survive by them .. especially as poets ... dancers .. musicians and painters ... thank Heaven above they did not kill us eh!? ;) even one hit wonders can be hit with replay ... and memories .. thankfulness ... forgiveness .. are like floods of cleansing waters ... sorry to go on in such a way, Lydi! i wax poetic! lovely read .. made me think and remember and appreciate so many times in a life

I recall one of these moments and like your poem, I do think about it from time to time and as a matter of fact, miss the other person. Funny how the heart and the mind work. Some things I guess we aren't meant to forget to remember. Really nice Lydi. Thanks for allowing me another look back in the past.
