is it okay for me to have selective memory?
i mean monochrome days do become rainbows sometimes
don't they?
yes, yes, it's true
midnight came and went
my carriage did not turn into a pumpkin
but i still believed
the clouds asked me questions
the raindrops did not answer
still i had faith
i still loved the orange-red-pink sunsets
and still saw your face in the clouds
the thing is
i have a pocketful of memories
and another filled with wishes
today i made a choice
to cherish them both

How wonderful your words are in this. It brought back memories of my mother and all the happy times we shared, looking at sunsets, watching the birds, planting flowers and just sitting on the porch in the summer talking until the fireflies came out. It is quite okay to not only have those selective memories but to cherish them as well. Here's to wishes and memories and dreams that may come true. Bless. F.

This is a wonderful piece of poetry, the opening was amazing, pockets of wishes and memories, mine are overfilled, I live for the sunrises and sunsets and when the clouds give me neither two wishes fall from my pocket so I’m happy if I get at least one. This is beautiful and thank you for sharing it.

Such a lovely review. Thank you, Patricia! Lydi**
I like what Jacob said here, so I echo his review,
I like to believe in fairy tales and wished some of them would actually happen, but I know real life happens all around us. Nicely written and expressed

not a problem
You have the Wings of a Meadow Lark who remembers
the Songs of the ages where memories surrender like
a Summer rain that became Autumn sunsets refrain.
Storing the sunshine in a Solar Panel where shadows stay warm. tenderly, Pat

Thanks, Pat. Lydi*
i think in older age our lives seem to be fairy tales...
the end is coming, we hope a happy one.
and the beginning and middle of the fairy tale which is our real life....becomes something
we remember as we wish....
I am still thinking my carriage will turn into a pumpkin any day now.
This is very creative...a wonderful play on the Cinderella theme.

Sounds like striking a fair balance to me. Both memories and wishes are fine as long as they don't obscure the present moment, which is really all there is.
