A Poem by Lydia Shutter

is it okay for me to have selective memory?
i mean monochrome days do become rainbows sometimes
don't they?
yes, yes, it's true
midnight came and went
my carriage did not turn into a pumpkin
but i still believed
the clouds asked me questions
the raindrops did not answer
still i had faith
i still loved the orange-red-pink sunsets
and still saw your face in the clouds
the thing is
i have a pocketful of memories
and another filled with wishes
today i made a choice
to cherish them both

How wonderful your words are in this. It brought back memories of my mother and all the happy times we shared, looking at sunsets, watching the birds, planting flowers and just sitting on the porch in the summer talking until the fireflies came out. It is quite okay to not only have those selective memories but to cherish them as well. Here's to wishes and memories and dreams that may come true. Bless. F.

Perfect for me to stumble across this as I search for new writers to read.

Never give up hope. Go with the flow. Walk away with your head up and some good memories and lessons learned into that beautiful possibility- filled future.

Loved this so much.
