A Poem by Lydia Shutter

artwork by mandy jurgens

you must know
on this roller coaster of life
ups and downs are meant to be
the wind is meant to make the leaves dance
the rain is meant to make the ducks smile
and my words, dear one
are to help you feel my essence
and realize once and for all
you are not alone

Wisdom in every verse. This community has been so accepting. I tuelly no longer feel alone. My entire life I have felt out of place. I guess I never looked in the right place. Yes life is a roller coaster for sure. We have joy and pain and every experience is valuable.

you say it so elegantly Lydi, but it's more than the words, it's the deep connection one person has with another or for everyone... this truly is a "nice" poem and one of my favorites...

It is a roller coaster indeed. Much wisdom in those words. You are giving a solid assurance.

You are welcome dear Lydia...
And they do Lydi, they do!
I was just thinking that very thing, as a down turned downer and I wondered when I'd see the sun again. Our path is always the one we're meant to be on and no matter where it takes us, we always find ourselves on it whenever we stop to look for other paths, that look clearer, from a distance. It might even turn out to be future us, laying all those traps, just to keep it interesting. 😊

Awww, Jacob, thank you! I think every poet puts a bit of her/himself in the words. Lydi**
Indeed, the ups and downs do come for all, and there is much loneliness. Framing this offering and hanging it on the wall might help ease this plight.

My words are worthy of framing? Well, that is quite the compliment, John. Thank you! Lydi**
