all right

all right

A Poem by Lydia Shutter

artwork by jim warren

you help me remember
that first sip of coffee on a chilly morning
a baby's giggle
dancing to an oldie on the radio
the fierce compassion of a good friend
and the love of family now gone

you are the reason i am forgetting
what i spent too much time regretting

you are the book i want to read
again and again
the margin filled with special notes
your voice gently speaks the words
that previously did somersaults through my brain
truly it's always you
i suppose it always will be
and that's all right with me

.... I was aware of the smile forming from the very first line .. then the insidious aches of both old longing and losses began to take hold and stayed with me until I hit send .... this is one of those pages I am sure will draw me back to it ............ thank you Lydi**

aww i love this Lydi .. would have such a love in my life anytime ;) great job with the title and closing line to tie it all up .. precious thoughts .. the imaging so emotive without flowery expression .. in this little scene inside your speakers mind .. an honest gift of loving .. i really enjoyed the visit my friend! so real and so beautiful!

Yea, I am a flowery sort! :) Thank you so much for the lovely review, E. Lydi**
Love the title, and really enamored with the metaphor of the last verse.
This is a quality piece of writing, Lydi.
and it is "all right" with this reader.
