betrayal

betrayal

A Poem by Lydia Shutter

artwork courtesy of ellen sparer fine art

betrayal
the deceit hiding 'neath a cardinal's wing
a clear violation of friendship
were i a secret agent
certainly i would have uncovered the trickery
surrendered secrets
left to drift down the river of duplicity
ah but here i am
duped again
like a violin unstringed
filaments of friendship
lie on a soundless floor of fouled camaraderie
a susurrus of a faraway lesson taunts me
will i never learn?
betrayal

A powerful poem with meaning and purpose.

The above lines. Left me with question. When we surrender our secrets. We open our selves wide open. Thank you dear Lydia for sharing your amazing words and your thoughts.

Somethings we must hold silence on dear Lydia. We can trust few with the truth. You are welcome.

Such is the sad truth.Maybe betrayal is just there to give us a lesson. But we never learn.Maybe it just want to make us a stronger person.

I'm so sorry Lydia, who would be that stupid? obviously someone that doesn't know the value of such a poetic heart! But soon they will know the value of the loss of such a poetic heart... of that, I'm sure!!! stay safe dear one:)

You stay safe too, Robert. Thanks for the review. Lydi**
Dear Lydi**, betrayal sucks. It really is difficult to deal with and is made worse if it involves family or close friends. Once that line has been crossed , how can you trust that person again? You express your deep hurt here in these eloquent lines and this reader felt that pain. There are very few people I can fully trust. I have learned the lessons. You know that old saying, once bitten, twice shy. I remember it well. Look after yourself my friend.

oooooooooooooooooh! well done Ms. Shutter .. susurrations fits perfectly the grey mood of betrayal .. no clear lines once believed in ... all goes to vague accusation and pain .. exquisitely done my friend ... the players, and action smooth as the serpents sensuous slithering word temptations .. ready to slice and dice .. i can not help but think of my Lord Jesus' betrayal by Judas .. with a kiss no less .. it's a keeper says i .. into me library it goes

Seems even in today's weather, people say or do things unthinkable. Finding forgiveness is hard as hard can be. Sad for you, Lydi.. you of many walking Kindnesses. Take care, please, keep safe.

No, we are very fortunate here in South Florida. Today it is 86 degrees and sunny!
Unfortunately the tendency to betray exists. It really hurts when it comes from a friend, but the best course is to count it as another lesson.

Yes, John, it is a teachable moment indeed. Thankyou so much for the review. Lydi**
betrayal from a trusted friend is the worst. I really like the violin image.
But yes, I feel this poem...duped again, i have been often.
I always say I will not fall for the ploy...but when I see someone I think is need, I cannot resist.
