the easy going merri-go-round of life

turned into a roller coaster last year

no one expected it

like a slap in the face

(with a gloved hand of course)

everything changed

how long would it last?

surely it would be over soon

but now it's february again

seems like nothing is the same

we are in covid's vortex

only one thing has not changed 

i am still a dreamer

i believe the world will unlock

masks will disappear

once again we will hug and laugh

and greet one another without fear

friends will draw butterflies around my scars

and this pandemic will only be real

in boring history books

This is the ultimate in freedom of thought. It would be hard for most of us to be this straightforward about the world we want to see & how we know it will come to be. It is amazing a whole year has passed by and great that the vaccine is getting rolled out, but everyday it's still death and more death. We will get over this, but the lessons of lockdown must be learned and learned quick.
