even now

even now

A Poem by Lydia Shutter

artwork by monica gomes

he was the one i always wanted
the one i thought did not exist
except in my fantasies
he made love to the vowels in my name
allowing them to roll off his tongue so seductively
like diamonds falling into an intricate setting
his voice was a velvet caress
touching parts of me too long untouched
i longed to experience all of him
till the morning light interrupted us
my breath morphed into a greedy sigh
and the morning after the night before
the timeless taste of his kiss
lingered on my tongue
where it stays...even now

my consonant ears are burning up from this line...and they are now smoking a cigarette.

You do these so well....it is hard to get through one of your sensual poems without stopping in the middle and taking a cold shower. :))))

There are times we must escape into a poem! Hope you are well, Cassie. Thank you. Lydi**
One of your best lascivious tangles that I've read in a long time. Makes me want to be there, but your poem does the next best thing . . . puts me right there . . . in the mindset (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

lascivious.....love that word! Thank you so much, Margie. Lydi**
As I've said before and no doubt will again if I wish for dark and layered romance I know the place to come.

Ken, thank you so much. Always appreciate your reviews. Lydi**
wonderful love story and poem ... too many, i am sure, do not have the patience to wait for "the one i thought did not exist" ... the timelessness and beauty of your speakers experience delights me ol' romantic heart and soul, Lydi. this line:
"he made love to the vowels in my name" is, in my opinion, spectacular, spectacular!

And even the memory of one perfect night is better than a thousand nights of "could do better, B-" 😊
So I'm told, wouldn't know personally. Now Where's that innocent looking emoji? 🙄🙄🙄
As ever Lydi, smooth with a capital SMOO and beautifully finished with an almost silent sigh. No, wait... that was me sighing 😊

That's not a halo Lydi, it's a plate someone's thrown at me 😳

LOL I absolutely believe that.
Whew! Torrid stuff here, Lydi. Is the picture you or the young Marlene Dietrich?

It does look like Dietrich now that you mention it. I really don't know. It caught my eye...and I .. read more
