without the darkness

without the darkness

A Poem by Lydia Shutter
"

it's a monday sort of tuesday

"

artwork by francis picabia

the chill from a door that just wouldn't close
crashed the party that morning
it was a rocky frayed array of emotions
anchored in my ocean far too long
oh yes, long overdue to sail away
finally in increments it inched into
the nether regions of my bruised psyche
and as dusk danced its way into the evening
i realized
without the darkness
we could never embrace the light

That's true.
I was imagining one day the Earth is flat and we couldn't have experience
Night.
This life wouldn't be as beautiful as this. There wouldn't be night tranquility, the insects sounds would have been fairy, we won't have had the chance to enjoy the view of the fireflies, the sweet night dreams wouldn't have exist. Nature would have become somehow so boring.

Aside, for light to be called light, there must be darkness it has overcome.

Robert, you always make me smile. Thank you so much. Lydi**
Those words make me think in so many ways, Lydi.. both in the metaphorical sense and in the philosophical. Seems we can look to emotions involving life and loves ones, on humanity iself. And to faith and hope and trust and all those complex thoughts that exist even though we don't completely understand them or.. perhaps, each have different pictures of them.. each man and woman being his or her own open island..

Whatever and however intended, your poem opens the mind to wondering.. and WONDER is what we need right now, not merely the inscribed mind=set we seem to have. There is still a beautiful wonder in our world, we just need keep searching for it. And more, far more. Thank you so much for helping me to set focus on another place.. to brighten or darken according to what i need most. You know what it is. Now. Love and warmth to you and your darling.

i think of the chill as the virus...at least that is where my head is now...we have to get through this...but without darkness like this, we don't appreciate the light we once had.
