It does seem like the last six weeks have made us stand still. Dates and time have no meaning, but you are right, people in our life, people who have gone but still stay with us daily. This is their time, and ours to say thanks for everything you done for us.

Just boredom, Lydia, but I'll not complain, many would love to be bored. Hope you're doing well.

Amazing the jobs we catch up on. Hopefully we'll get back to normal someday.
no matter how old we get...she is still "mommy" to us.
so many shades of my feelings about my mom...gone six years now.
this is so beautiful, as she was....and one of your best poems, Lydi...the metaphors are so so good here.
"but some seem even more polished with time
wooden shoe images
spin on the blades of windmills
i hear you singing in the language of my childhood"
these lines are my favorites...
damn, i wish i could write like this...my poems feel shallow in comparison...

Your mum was so truly beautiful. A perfect mother as I see from the love & joy that spills over from the picture you shared. I am sorry for your loss and I cannot imagine how much you miss her. Your wonderful, heartfelt lines took me to thoughts of my own mother. Thanks you for this poem.

thanks so much, Kat. I appreciate your review. Lydi**
It's too less to say for a mom, someone who sacrifices her wishes and smiles just for her child and her arms are the safest and most peaceful place in universe. A mother is always a mother and cannot be defined, her greatness is more than words can say.

How true, Aurora. Thank you for visiting today. LydI**
I don't cry easily with words Lydi**, but your tribute to your mum on the tenth mother's day without her really had me dripping tears. Such an emotional and loving write. Beautifully poetic, touched my heart this morning. You write so movingly dear friend. Your posted photograph of mother's day 2010 is a treasure without doubt as was your mum. Talented lady you.

Someone said that God cannot be everywhere and so he made mothers. Some lines here touched my core. When you say you still hear her singing and when you say you still have trouble thinking about her in the past tense. Mothers, I feel, are the major contributors of everything positive in our lives and they prepare us for the hardships of the world. No wonder they are so powefully etched into the psyche. Ingrained into the soul. They are our angels and I lost mine at a very young age. Yet the vacuum exists. My cmpliments on such a great tribute to your wonderful mother and to all the mothers in the world.

A wonderful poem for your mother. I was raised-up by a dear Grandmother. I think of her everyday and I use her words. People, we loved and who loved us. Always a part of us. Thank you dear Lydia for sharing your amazing words and your thoughts.

A very sad poem, dear Lydia. Your yearning flows through your lines very delicately and touches the reader. This will be the strangest Mother's Day on record for me with this virus keeping us out of reach, so even though it is temporary for me, your poem does resonate strongly. Make sure you have a lovely Mother's Day yourself. Lovely writing, here. :))

Your line about having trouble thinking of her in the past tense is one that will resonate loudly for those who have lost Lydi. I think it is simply that they never follow that rule because they are inseperable from ourselves, no matter how much time passes. Even the treasured possessions they leave us never becomeours, but are always described as theirs.
They may take the body, but everything they were to us remains with us.
My Dad passed in 2001 and I still laugh with him, not at his spoonerisms, like finding out on his last year on earth he liked cornflakes, but not with that semi-skilled milk they give you in hospital. Or how hospital side saddles were always limp (side salads) He laughed at them as much as we did and only found out after he died they started when my parents first dated and they intentionally kept them going.
Anyhoo, got a bit tide-stracked there, apologies.
Your words are a beautiful tribute to a loving and loved mother and I'm sure that on mothers days there will be as many smiles at fond memories as their will be tears. It's allowed, they never stop being Mum and we never stop being their kids.
