undeniable

mother's day 2010                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          

i write sentences in the air

hoping you will read them

sure, the dust has gathered on certain memories

but some seem even more polished with time

wooden shoe images 

spin on the blades of windmills

i hear you singing in the language of my childhood

i still have trouble thinking of you in the past tense

you were such a force in my life

and even when the universe was blistered

you always knew what to say

          what to do

to make it all feel okay again

mother's day is almost here

my tenth without you

i just want to find shelter between these lines

wear their meaning till the fit is comfortable

then cleanse myself in a fountain of tears

still embracing one undeniable truth

i miss you mommy!

I couldn't imagine the feeling when one loses their mother. I'm fortunate to still have mine though. I know it was hard for me though when I lost my grandmother I was so close too. Meant the world to me. So beautifully written. I know she's looking down at you at all your great accomplishments, what you wrote of her here in thank yous and much love.
