there's a wanting in my heart today
waves of ancient oceans crash on my shores
time for my fingers to write you a love poem
then caress each syllable gently
unbuttoning the emotion
i'll smudge its colors
till it bursts into a rainbow
softly i'll fondle the poem
stroking it as i wrap it round my shoulders
dreaming of happier times
when words did not have their own agenda
and the wind did not whisper your name

Beautiful first line and magic following throughout, dear Lydi. Your poem brought me to tears. We wrap ourselves in memories now, the tenderness still lingers. “I’ll smudge its colors..till it bursts into a rainbow”-such lovely, evocative imagery. Who is to say what is reality and what is not- the feelings are real and alive. The last three lines so wistful and perfect. Excellent write my friend. Take care and stay well.

so sensitive, sensual and intimate .. love the closing two lines especially .. well done Lydia ... a masterful touch ... the poem personified .. that's the way to write says i! and pairing it with the pic .. well done .. each compliments and adds to the other .. thanks for this moment .. of trust, youthful sexual energy and a simpler time ... a fine read ...

The great mistress, (if you will pardon the expression) of the romantic poem talks about writing a romantic poem. what else could you ask for?

the wind, the ocean, the caress of that beauty rolled into a very sensual piece of writing...
"when words did not have their own agenda" the best poems are made up of words that embrace each other and not try to stand out....in a relationship, if we give to each other, push each other to be strong, we will make a perfect poem.

dear Lydia... a lovely bouquet of flowers blooming from
emotions that remember the days of September when Autumn
colored our days with dreams and the music of romantic fantasies
where passionate waves of desire became a string of unbroken pearls.
Your poetry is a gift of sacred moments. truly, Pat
