what you wish

what you wish

A Poem by Lydia Shutter
"

extending a hand of friendship

"

artwork courtesy of dreamstime.com
my friendship is here
on the longest or shortest day of the year
when anger balloons in your psyche
and you think you are orbiting
an evil planet
look at me
your name is etched upon my soul

like a ventriloquist
i will transmit my message of calm
onto your lips

remember
the past is written
the future shimmers on the horizon
memories are like a boomerang
always returning
but you aren't required to catch them
so i am here to help you forget
or to not forget if that is what you wish

This is the ultimate hand of friendship! I wish there were more like this. My favorite line: "when anger blooms in your psyche" . . . we are all susceptible to anger, sometimes unreasonable, & the best friend can overlook this & not hold onto it as a weapon for later. This one thing is possibly the hardest for humans to accomplish in friendship. I also love the past-present-future sentiments at the end . . . so uniquely expressed, as you always look for the freshest way to say things (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

I like how you say memories are like a boomerang, that is so VERY true. and you are right, it is up to us if we want to remember them or not. Some I'd rather not but yet I do. Memories make us who we are today. This is so good. You write very lovely.

You're welcome
The quiet thunder of a storm where only you
can calm the winds... with words shimmering
on the horizon... for a moment there were star gazing
Lillies and a gentle breeze. Your poetry is like the
sound of a Whippoorwill where hope remains. truly, Pat

How lovely your review is, Pat. Thank you. Lydi**
yes, memories do boomerang...a never ending cycle.
your middle stanza is so creative..the ventriloquist idea is perfect...
real friendship is also like a boomerang...it keeps coming back.
