A Poem by Lydia Shutter

photography by stefan beutler
on the days when i feel
as shattered as broken glass
in the dust bin of life
and sleep is a foreign country
for which i have no visa
i go through the motions
living in name only
certain no one will notice
yet you are there...noticing
you are the one
rescuing me out of dizzy memories
turning the uneven boundaries of dark thoughts
into ribbons surrounding warmth and sunshine
so i guess you need to know
i notice

Wonderful expression and emotion in these lines Lydi**. I also think your posted image is fabulous. When we are at our most vulnerable, it is a blessing to have someone who is aware of how we feel and who stands over us, minding our backs. Nothing so reassuring.

All good wishes

Chris

I clicked on this poem cause I was reading a review of one of mine...Raptors Rapture and in that little box that says related writing this popped up:) I don't usually pay attention to that box but I saw your name so here I am.
I love this line..... sleep is a foreign country for which i have no visa... boom boom boom!!!
Living in name only what an honest expression
we all fight so hard to keep the darkness away what a lovely thing to have someone who sees you in these times to pull you back into the light.
and the last line is perfect

If there is someone for me and I for them then life is still blissful and warm, no matter how broken and unnoticed we feel sometimes. Caring and sharing are reciprocal and never fail to reassure. Your words uplift me here, Lydi. I count my blessings.

You are so kind. Thank you, Lyn. Lydi**
Such true and glorious words, Lydi. I think, no, I know: they translate into one beautiful word: Love.

Phrases here, superbly laid, ' .. when i feel - as shattered as broken glass - in the dust bin of life - and sleep is a foreign country - for which .. ' There's instinctively one who knows.. ..

This is a superb description of feeling broken & having someone who notices these things. We don't need to be fixed, but it's nice to know when it's noticed. I love how the last line feels a little begrudging, which is authentic for how these moods can make us be slow to acknowledge. Here's hoping you & yours have a Happy Easter! You are welcome dear Lydia.
So much truth to this Lydi. So good to read you again 😊 It’s never about quantity but quality when we are at our lowest and most vulnerable. It only takes one person to know and to respond the right way to our feelings and that alone can bring a smile, that warmth, that reassurance xx
