candle-lit

candle-lit

A Poem by Lydia Shutter

photography by ilya rashap
you led me into a fresh forever
one i had never even dared to dream
the gap between fantasy and reality
was deliciously closed
with sips of sun-brewed tea
and kisses placed right there

i was your rose and baby's breath bouquet
and you arranged me artistically
till my eyes were emptied of seeing
and my skin saw all i needed to see
together
we followed the winding road
on an intricate map of sensuality
ripples of wishes were smoothed
by your too perfectly choreographed
magic touch
until alone
i realized my fresh forever
was nothing more than a candle-lit dream

The most bittersweet reality is the moment you wake from such wondrous dreams, knowing not even modern technology can record such precious moments and we finf ourselves playing the dreamwish jukebox each time after, when our head hits the pillow and we wait to see if it plays again.
Beautifully captured Lydi.

Excellent poem, great imagery, and sounds like a great dream tantalizingly just out of reach

Thank you, Gram. Lydi**
Tender, gentle, softly warming, deliciously romantic embrosia for the hungry, yearning soul … yet, ever-so poignant in its slow ache of realization when love's flame flickers to a fading glow.
Oh, Lydi,
You've stolen my breath and swept my being out into the ripples of your lightly sensual stream ⁓ to rise or fall through a wispy dream.
Gorgeous title, gorgeous photo, amazingly enthralling poetry dancing vividly out in your glow to flow up off the page, to captivate and caress the very core of ever romantic heart … and, "kisses placed right 'there'" (in italics) certainly flared the flame higher … ummm*
The way you've taken us to your "fresh forever", both joyously and dolefully is sheer genius and ties it all together with a neat poetic bow.

Ah, M'Dear, but what would he have without dreams(?) … Sighhh*
Warmest thanks, M'Lady ⁓ Richard 🍃

You definitely are the reincarnation of Edna St. Vincent Millay!! A truly romantic poet.

oh noooooooo only a dream!!!! bummer girl! ;) what a marvelous journey through your story poem .. the pic is perfect for what you share with us .. i so sat back and relaxed in the reading of this .. its such a beautifully described scene of romantic sensuality ... V3 enveloped me ..so well said ma'am ... V2 L1&2 set me up ... i was committed to the reality of this dream so your closing doubly fooled me .. thanks for sharing Lydia .. its a keeper!

Precisely! You know it.
Those days when we were fearless. No concern for tomorrow. Poet's wealth.
"together
we followed the winding road
on an intricate map of sensuality
ripples of wishes were smoothed
by your too perfectly choreographed
magic touch"
Those winding road lead us back to softer heart and wilder dreams dear Lydia. I loved this poem and thank you for sharing.

You're so good Dean Friedman sang about you :))
Got to agree with Christine, you are too of the pile when writing romantic, sensual poetry.
So good envy creeps in :))
