my muse of yesteryear

my muse of yesteryear

A Poem by Lydia Shutter

artwork by francis picabia

i've spent too many words
more than i should have
sensual stanzas clothed me once
now stripped of all thoughts
i just sing old lyrics
pausing mid song
to smile and lick my lips
remembering you
my muse of yesteryear

;) ............ how deliciously we spend ourselves on the blank screen and papers ....... and look at what you created instead of laying idle ... i have such a contented smile on my face in your ".... muse of yesteryear" ...just look at how you have kept it alive :)))))))))))))))))

Making love to a blank page.
Recalling thoughts of yesteryear.
It's a bloody cruel world out there.
There really should be a button to rectify this.
Just an hour would do. What do you think.

I'm on it.
The yesteryear muse was brighter, more vivid, more colourful. Our palettes were richer, our verses passion-filled. Now a barer scape and the yearning for that magic our pens yielded with such flourish, so brilliantly captured here. Appreciated so much, dear Lydi.

Indeed Lydi. You’re most welcome 💕
Gorgeous painting and reflection. I love those kind of muses for they bring back many valuable moments. It is like fuel of the imagination. Short but powerful lines that are celebrated.

Sometimes our personified force appears allusive and once in awhile this source of inspiration needs a rest period before up-cycling, recharging and rebooting imagination and creativity. Looks like your ‘Mojo’ has awakened with this neat little piece of writing – nice... :-)

Yesteryear muses. You have sent me on a little journey and I am remembering some delicious moments. I thank you for that Lydi**. Isn't it wonderful how old song lyrics can take you back. Sometimes I just want to kick my shoes off and dance again like I used to many years ago. You have put a smile on my face with your lovely lines.
