forever friends are precious

we've been friends for so many years

you are part of my soul

our roots are intertwined 

in a complex macramé of happy and sad

no costumes and masks are necessary

we dance to the same tune

yet interpret it in our own way

each admiring the other's rendition

memories paint our words

even as we tiptoe through them over and over

noticing something different each time

it's true you read my voice

listen to my face

touch my meaning

we make space in the daily grind

to seal the day with a phone call

making it as good as it gets

dedicated to my friend louise...a true gem!
