never doubt it

never doubt it

A Poem by Lydia Shutter

artwork by anna razumovskaya "what lies ahead"

i know you
every inch of you
like i know every word to my favorite oldies song
in pockets of night
and in the vastness of day
our bodies sing a silent tune
also known as our melody of love

even as the sun swallows what is left of the night
i realize the sheet music
is gloriously engraved in my psyche

so never doubt it
      no matter what lies ahead
toujours mon amour

Lydia, a tender and sincere poem. I read this one several times, and though it certainly applies to a lifelong or longtime love, so many verses can also apply to self. I reflected on times when I talked myself through a scary or troubled time, and I came out on the other side. So comforting when we know others know us so well. Enjoyable read, as always.

I love the line about the favorite oldies song. If people knew their partners as well as old lyrics, this world would be an awesome place. Ok its already an awesome place. You know what i mean. Great poem. CD

“Our bodies sing a silent tune...” and the lovers here are so attuned to each other. Tender, musical, golden, glorious words of love sung heart to heart. “In pockets of night..and in the vastness of day..” - gorgeous imagery and lyrical expression. I hear the musicality of this as a song- would love to hear it orchestrated. Absolutely beautiful poem Lydi!

Very same to you, Annette!
I meant this comment for this poem, "Never doubt it". Reminds me a bit of Silver threads and Golden needles... We can mend our lovers heart, because we know the other so well. A soft and melodic poem that caresses the heart. truly, Pat

I love the ending - Never Doubt It, No matter what lies Ahead.
It's funny how all Doubts are created by our Own Minds - yet we believe them to be True, right?
I've always wanted to know how to embed a picture the way you did, and not just have it be that little ICON in front of the Title - Would you share with me how you did that? Be nice if the Cafe had HELP. Lovely Lydia, I'm glad you're Here, and always Remember - To BE HERE NOW, as much as we Can - Be Here Now.
