we all grew upA Poem by Lydia Shutterartwork "diva" by christiane vleugels you were
electric the atmosphere
exploded in your presence or at least
you thought it did until that
day the
even-spaced ringing of the bell from the
church on main street was the backdrop for your tears suddenly you were not invincible you had
experienced loss all the candles
in that church were lit but you
never noticed they were flickering
and slowly dying like our not-so-storybook
romance even the
cellophane grass in easter baskets wilted that
year and we all
grew up © 2018 Lydia ShutterFeatured Review
