the honey of life

the honey of life

A Poem by Lydia Shutter
"

i took this photo from the deck of a cruise ship last week. nothing brings me more inspiration that this.

"

ripples of inspiration ride the waves

the sun sings anthems of rhyme

till twinkling stars line up in a parade of wordplay

the visceral mob comes at me

waiting for me to tame it

i welcome the onslaught

a translucent hum of poetic thoughts

serenades my spirit

sweetening it with the honey of life

Ah - firstly congrats for snapping the glory of sunset so well - - your tribute to nature's gift of inspiration is awesomely good - - eloquence mingled with metaphor held my attention to the very last line which is a sure winner..... the "honey of life" is a phrase to remember and thank you for sharing the splendour of sundown.

What a lovely review, Fay. Thank you. Lydi**
Wow that's amazing. The picture in your poem certainly goes hand in hand with enjoying oneself in life. Amidst the chaos of other people the pleasant surroundings make it all worth while. Great work and keep writing. :)

Glad you liked those lines, Sami. Lydi**
you, sunsets, ocean cruise, and the poetry just spontaneously flows like the stars swirl the night sky... Lydi you are one of the few poets I read that swim in words and welcome the challenge of taming them into poems, or perhaps better put "magic"... and it is always such "nice" magic too...

I do believe being on a cruise ship delights your muse in a most prolific way, Lydi. I've never been on one, but I have been on a ship before with a merchant marine...but that's another story! Lol, it really is a thrill to read you, and I hope there will be many more years ahead for us both - right here!

I hope you had a wonderful Hanukkah. My best to you in the coming year, my friend!

doesn't get any more perfect Lydia...great read and i hear an anthem to the muse in it ... "..the visceral mob.." and ".. i welcome the onslaught" is genius says i ..it takes strong negatives and turns it to welcoming adoring fans in my mind .. tho perhaps not your intent ;} i am jealous of your cruising ...but can almost say i have been on one now ..one without a hitch ..and so blessed :) so glad you shared this one .. are you back now? from your cruise?

dear Lydi... your poetry is inspired by your view of the early morning mist on waves of contentment as the cruise rocks you in a cradle of celestial peace. The islands with palm trees and cool breezes fill your heart with blessings.
